Summer arrived a bit late...

Man it got HOT!!!

We have been having a very mild Spring here and are still sleeping under a Doona at night.. normally they would have been cleaned and packed away months ago!

Then suddenly it got hot.. not just warmer, but HOT.. real Summer weather for Oz.. with high 30's and some days at 40 Degrees C. So we seemed to have missed out on Spring altogether, although the trees are still a bit confused about what they should be doing about now. Some of them are reflowering for the third time since September.. poor confused Nature.

With the heat came my daughter's insistence on painting her bedroom purple.. she obtained our landlord's permission and started work.. three weeks ago!! It began with me telling her how to prepare the old surfaces for new paint, and that she would need to undercoat the areas sanded back, etc. She did that okay it seemed... emphasis on 'seemed'.

Once she had a go at putting the first coat of white around the top of the 10 high walls she found it was WORK.. and soon began to disappear all day and late into the night to avoid having to do it. When asked she simply said, "I'll do it in my own time."

So she got a friend in to do the painting around the top.. and he got stuck on enough to finish it on the day. Good stuff. But, he had made such a mess, white paint on the bedhead, white paint all over himself and the other girl who was here to 'help'.. oh, and white paint in the carpet.. and the paint roller left to dry out in the rolling tray filled with white paint.

Yeah... I'm over White Paint now.

The next morning the same young bloke arrives here to touch up the white where necessary... or so I thought at the time. Instead he started on the purple.. and as he did I could hear him slapping it on the walls with a brush, so I went in to see what's happening.

Had to tell him not to do all the painting as the girly said she was going to do it, etc. So he left.. leaving paint everywhere again.. there's more purple on the drop sheets and carpet than he got on the little section of wall he started working on!!!!!

Well that was enough for me. I phoned the girly and told her to be here on Sunday so we could do the painting together.. and she did arrive.. about lunch time, saying she only had an hour to spare until her boyfriend finishes work. Oh, is that right then girly? Aren't you thinking that getting your room done would be the priority?

Silly old dad, what makes you think that?

The next day was 40C + and so no painting was going to happen that day. I tried doing a test area above the doors but the paint was drying quicker than I could reload the brush to continue. So that day became a rest day, trying not to overheat myself.


And the next days was too hot... another almost rest day.

Then I phoned the girly again about getting the next coat of colour on the walls, and was told I had to wait another day for her to have the time to spare... teenagers!! No idea about real life prioritising yet.

Well the next day arrive, the girly arrived again after lunch and we started in to it with all seriousness to get it done before she "had to leave". We blasted the second coat on in only an hour and a half... except for the tricky parts and the three doors.. the tricky bits being where the wall frame meets the in a corner between two doors.. tight and dark in there it was.

I ended up working a few hours more late at night to get the last of the second coat finished off, then began the trim colour around her window frame.. and that was enough for me.

Today I go in to see how things have settled.. looking good so far. Lots of mess from the teenagers to be cleaned up though and I won't be the one doing it.

Part of me was hoping the girly would get home today and start on the first coat of trim colour.. but it's now 1:30pm and no sign of her. Methinks she is thinking I will finish everything off for her and she will only have to clean up and sort the room back out again with furniture.

Nuh-Uh!! I'm done... I can walk past it without being peeved about how long one room is taking to get painted by the one person who wanted to do it all herself.

Oh okay then.. Yes I am a little bit peeved about it. But I won't let that wreck my whole day or week.. or month.

Did I tell you I was buying a motorcycle this year.. Yay!!!

I saw another UFO...

I did.

Sunday, January 1st at around 3am....

Was just heading out the front door at a friend's place here in Gumbieville, and we stood in the yard to talk for a few more minutes. Interestingly, I was talking to her about the massive increase in UFO sighting in 2011 and how it should continue this year.

With the last words I spoke then, I looked up into the sky and there it was, right above us moving slowly to the East.. as a keen observer I noted the background stars and slowly moving clouds, to determine if the object was moving independantly.. and yes it was.

It was moving with a slow meandering away from a bright star.. so it was not a star looking like it was moving due to clouds moving, etc. This was a large light source ambling across the sky.. until I pointed it out to my friend.. who saw it move toward and behind cloud cover.

I checked the opposite side of the cloud to see when it came out.. it didn't. And the clouds dissipated exactly where it should have been.. but nothing was there.. not a thing. It didn't continue along it's path, it didn't do anything else.. it simply vanished.

Anyway, I thought that was pretty cool for a bit of 'Coincidence'.. talking about UFO's and then having one appear above us at the same time.... but you know I don't Believe in 'Coincidence'.. to me everything happens for a reason.

On forgetting things...

I do it all the time.

About 10 or so years ago I started making a list for the fridge of all the things to remember each day, and sometimes on an hourly basis if necessary. The list got longer and longer until I realised there were too many things to have to be remembered constantly.

Every once in a while something helps remind me of some of the things.

The Hopi people reminded me 3 years ago in their last message to the world that times are going to get tougher, and we have to let go and let it happen as it will, as long as we remained centred.

Well, I didn't. I flipped and flopped like a fish out of water, waved my arms about in the air, and yelled at 'god'... in case there is one, so the bastard would hear me... instead of going with the flow out in the middle of the river.

So a reminder came the other day. And I remembered what it was about... that was nice don't you think?

The memory was about not letting things bother you so much that you lose focus. To regain equanimity.. the ability to observe everything around you but not let it effect you.

When you can stay in that state of mind, you more easily see what you can take action on, and what you should let go it's own way.

So.. that was painless and profound.

Just got to remember that how I feel every day really is up to me... doesn't mean I won't be having some solid rants in 2012.

Nice Power Bill?

Yes!!

I don't know why the new power bill is so low compared to all the others in the past few years, but I am not going to complain about it that's for sure.

Let's compare... last bill from Winter was $590. This Spring bill is $199... minus payments already made which brings it to $119.

Massive difference isn't it?

So, I know we didn't use any heaters to stay warm, we did use less hot water because the girly-monster is home only 4 to 5 night per week now, the TV was on less but the new TV in the girly's room was on, as was her stereo. Nothing else has changed since Winter except we use cold water to wash our clothes instead of letting the machine heat water to 40 degrees C.

I still sit up late on my puter then watch some TV until I am ready for sleep. This puter is still on 14 or more hours each day.

Well, it looks like I can pay the new bill in one hit on pension day next week, and that means I can save more for the motorcycle.. oh yeah!!

Am I happier today?

I was reading the NineMSN website two days ago and was again horrified by the use of inappropriate content for a family website. In the Entertainment section on the Main page were two Headline links to stories in the "Fix" section.

One headline read "WTF: Nicole ..."  and the other headline read "Ho Ho Ho: Skanky costumes for ..."

So me being me, I found the have your say part, and had my say....

Is there an adult working there? Can you get them to tell you Generation Y'ers that "WTF" is still an offensive term to most people in the Real World, so it is offensive used in this Headline, and also in plain view on a family website. You can have a good laugh at the old guy who is trying to get you to see that Youth Culture is not Everyone in Australia... so please learn good form in the public domain. This is the third time I have mentioned this here. Next time will be an email to the mature Adults at the top who do all the hiring and firing.

So at first I thought they would not publish it, like most of my comments about the cancers spreading through Youth Culture, but it appeared the next morning, and it was then I knew why they posted it up this time.. so that the Youth could also have their say about my words.

Fair enough you may think, and I agree. But I was also expecting the types of responses I did get from young adults.. cough..cough.


Not sure if anyone remembers that disgustingly voyeuristic TV show called Big Brother ? One night the dragon-women and some University Student Union Leader had a concerned Dad on a "Special" to supposedly allow him to voice his concerns.

He had a 14 and a 16 year old daughters, and did not want them to watch that absolute garbage for the mind. So once he had his say, the two Villians ganged-up on him and made it appear that he was just an old fogey having a whinge and should get up with the times. They even told him he SHOULD watch that show WITH his daughters so they could discuss anything he was concerned about as it came up.

I freaked out on how he was treated by these Gen Y females. They showed absolutely no understanding of his perception, NOR did they CARE one bit. All they wanted was to FORCE him to let his teenage daughters to watch the drivel and made him look stupid in public to insure no one else so much as tried to have a say and be heard.


So, I was reminded of that "Special" by the comments of the Youth to my first comments.. and here are just a few to show you what I mean.....

Thats what you take from all of this? *** is a term used by almost everyone. I can be walking around the shops and ill hear people that are no older then 12 using it in general speech. The fact is, you could take *** to be alot of different things, unless your telling the kids exactly what it means, they wont know. People like you are what is ruining society, unable to accept change and the fact that words that were horrible 50 years ago when you were 20 are becoming more and more acceptable in todays society

He sees no problem with 12 year olds speaking that way??

I'm honestly sick and tired of hearin people like YOU makin comments about gen y. How about your gen TEACH us how to be proper and stop putting all the blame on us. Seriously I'm sick of it. We weren't born bad we were taught bad so how about you think about that ^___^ And as for the headline alot of people use it, and i don't like sayin it either, so instead of sayin the full version it just goes through my head as w-t-f. The descent into Idiocracy begins with you young people.. but only if you let it be that way. I have high hopes for today's Youth..the people who will lead our country into the future. Many of you have great things ahead of you.. but please never forget the paths that lead to you to that in life. The clear facts are... this Society is Adult based.. not Youth based.. you are only Indoctrinated..  There were some supportive comments to what I had to say.. and I was glad of that. One of them mentioned the Movie "Idiocracy" and how quickly we were getting to that reality.. later an 'Educated" young person replied to that.. but I will leave that great laugh for a little later.

The story was posted on the front page of NineMSN, in the Entertainment section. So to make things as clear as possible Lesha, "***", "Ho Ho Ho... ***", are not appropriate for a Family website. The words themselves are not Australian. They are American Youth Culture derived from the Gansta Rap culture, also not family orientated. I know what a Troll is as I've been around Internet Forums ever since they began. I seek only to have decent values adhered to in the Public Domain. In my Youth no one swore in Public at Parents, around Children or Elders. We had Respect for ourselves and others. As a single dad who raised a daughter on his own, I saw the Cancer that has been spreading through Youth Culture even before you were born. I fought for kids to have a real childhood, for kids to learn Values for Life, for Human Rights and Personal Freedoms. The very things now taken for granted by this Me, Me, Me culture of Youth today. I have seen all the kids arguments.. nothing new there.

Anyone else notice how the auto-Censor actually censored my own usage of the two terms I had an issue with? What does that tell us?

Can I please just point out, The definition of idiocracy is NOT associated with idiocy but with idiosyncracy, it means essentially a peculiarity of a state or constitution and is derived roughly from the ancient greek word 'to mix'. So when all these commenters are jumping on their intellectual high horses and bemoaning the state of today's society calling it an idiocracy I think you're getting mixed up with the popular movie 'Idiocracy', which is somewhat ironic. **face-palm**

I loved the Face Palm bit.. and I really got a kick out of her telling me where and why I was wrong.. when she didn't even see that both older people knew exactly what we meant by the term "Idiocracy".. the Movie. 

Lack of common sense showing right there.. no matter how well educated some may be. And not being able to read the real words without thinking about what she wanted to say.. just like NOT Listening isn't it?

As it was said before, its the generation that raised us that has screwed up along the line to make us as 'bad' as we are, which even when speaking then your speaking for a minority of the population. All im taking from reading your comments is that your some old shut in who cant accept change. Society is not adult based, it used to be, not anymore. Society changes depending on the demographic your around and the socioeconomic area you are in. There is nothing you can do about Australian becoming more and more similar to America, its part of the world when they are one of the largest countries with the biggest influence. Seriously if you have this much of an issue with society and whats going on, GET OFF A GOSSIP WEBSITE. That type of language is going to be used here. Your not the youth anymore, accept it and move on.

You know something? I liked her response as it showed she was thinking.. just not Seeing what was said.

As often as I said the offending content was on the NineMSN Home Page none of the responders seemed to notice that and blindly went ahead telling me off for complaining about something on a "Gossip Site".

I should rest my case on that last Gem.. but there will be much more to come soon unless "The Fix" closes the comments for that page.

The disempowerment of Family began around 1980. Each successive generation was born into more power and Rights for Kids than Parents. Media focused on kids as Consumers to hook them into buying "must-have-stuff" all their lives, and it worked well. I'm educated too, Psychology, Philosophy and Politics at the Uni of South Oz, so I'm not some silly old geezer having a whinge. I am pointing out what needs to be fixed in our Society. Our children, in general, have become spoiled like spoiled fruit. The current education system has let 99% of you down, witness the many who can't spell to save their life, can't do ANY math in their head, have little common sense as displayed here by some. My issue is with inappropriate content on the Front Page, The Public Domain, which linked to this "Gossip Site". It must be difficult to have a long term perception of the downward slide of our culture when you are only 20 or even 30 years old, but you will notice it over the next 2 decades I hope.

I wold like to hear your feedback on this folks.. did you get as a good a laugh as I did?

This says... Police are more valuable than every other person in the population.

That cannot be correct at all.

Police are ONLY Humans like you and me.

Police are ONLY of the same human value as all people are.

Police are NOT more valuable than anyone else.

Police are PUBLIC SERVANTS.. you pay their wages with your Taxes.

Sadly... most people DO NOT join the Police FORCE to improve the conditions of others in the community.

Most DO join the Police FORCE in order to fulfil their OWN needs for CONTROL and POWER over others.

But NO.. now we are more American than we were yesterday.

Now anyone who injures or kills a Policeman will be more likely shot on the spot as they do in America.. so there is NO Justice for these people whether they committed the crime intentionally or the outcome was accidental.

Now watch what happens next.. we will see more reports of Police shooting people when they could just as easily have taken them into custody.

You have been warned.. remember this moment.
